Double Bond
2013 / David Tonnesen / Akron
Double Bond is an oxidized Cor-Ten steel and stainless steel sculpture by Davin Tonneson. When viewed below, one can see that the structure clearly resembles a molecule, specifically an Ethene (C2H4) molecule which is important to biology as a hormone. It was proposed as an "organic abstraction of elements from the plant and animal kingdoms blended with the invisible world of subatomic molecules and electron orbits".
