Generals and Admirals Park Monument
2004 / Creator Unknown / Marysville
An abstract sandstone stone monument that sits in Generals and Admirals Park next to the Union County Veterans Memorial Auditorium. The four pillars of the sculpture represent the four levels of government--township, county, state, and federal.
The sculpture used to be a fountain that stood in front of the Union County Courthouse across the street, which was donated by Carl Beighter in the 1970s, but renovations to the courthouse grounds in 2000 to make way for the new Justice Center had the fountain slated for destruction. Beighter's grandson, Lenard Andrews personally removed the sculpture part of the fountain in order to save it, and it was installed at Generals and Admirals Park in 2004.
