The NFL Draft 1936
2015 / Gail Folwell / Canton
On the corner of a quiet downtown parking lot in Canton, Ohio, is a rather impressive sculpture of five hulking bronze figures who pay tribute to a turning point in NFL history. The 2015 Sculpture "The NFL Draft, 1936” was the latest in “The Eleven,” a series of public artworks commemorating the greatest moments of professional football.
The massive bronze sculpture features five 7-foot, 450-pound figures — an NFL team owner ready to snap the ball flanked by four linemen — on a pedestal about 26 feet wide at Fourth Street and Cleveland Avenue NW. It was designed by sculptor Gail Folwell of Boulder, Colorado.
